Parejo became a free agent on 1 July, when his contract with Villarreal ran out, and has not agreed a move to any club since. As a free agent he can sign outside the regular transfer window, the route Getafe are exploring this autumn to bolster a squad that Bordalás has considered too thin since the summer window closed.
The Coslada-born midfielder, a product of Real Madrid's academy, already wore the Getafe shirt between 2009 and 2011 before leaving for Valencia. He later played for Villarreal. He is a deep-lying playmaker with a long career in the top flight.
His name had already been linked with the club a few days ago, when Ángel Torres publicly mentioned him among the out-of-contract players available while being asked about the possible arrival of Dani Carvajal.
The Carvajal deal is still moving forward. Before the match at the Camp Nou, the president explained that he had had to provide a guarantee to LaLiga so that the full-back's wages would fit within the squad cost limit, and that the move now depended only on the player's approval.
Any new signings would arrive during a demanding stretch of the calendar: this season Getafe are juggling LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Conference League, in which they visit Universitatea Craiova in Romania this Thursday.
Getafe have not confirmed the talks or made any announcement about Parejo.
