Getafe CF have confirmed the agreement with UD Almería for the transfer of Javi Muñoz. The 31-year-old midfielder thus ends his spell at the club and signs with the Andalusian side for the next two seasons.

The club put on record the 17 competitive appearances the player made in Getafe colours across LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, with two goals in that tally. In its statement, Getafe thanked the Parla-born midfielder for "his professionalism and commitment" during the season and wished him all the best in his new chapter.

At Almería he links up again with Xavier García Pimienta, who already coached him at UD Las Palmas, the club where the midfielder established himself before moving to the Coliseum. The rojiblancos have strengthened their midfield throughout this summer window and Javi Muñoz brings experience and mileage to it.

The departure eases a squad that Getafe are still trimming before the window closes. The side had already loaned forward Álex Sancris to Leganés, and the midfield is left one place lighter while the final moves are settled.

The club has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal.
