Getafe continue to strengthen their squad for the new season with the arrival of Jean-Yves Valou. The Ivorian defender joins on loan from Villarreal after the agreement reached between both clubs, which does not include a purchase option at the end of the loan.
Valou's signing comes as a result of a move that the azulón club already tried to complete during the past winter transfer window. Finally, the young centre-back will work under José Bordalás and will undergo pre-season training with the rest of the squad.
Developed in Villarreal's youth academy, Valou arrives after completing an outstanding campaign with the yellow reserve team. The defender played 28 matches for Villarreal B, in which he also scored three goals, establishing himself as one of the important pieces of the side managed by David Albelda.
Standing at 1.88 metres tall, the defender stands out for his physical strength, his dominance in the air and his solidity in defensive duties. Getafe believe his profile fits the azulón style of play and trust that he can continue to grow in his first experience in the top flight.
With his arrival, Bordalás gains a new option for the centre of defence, where he will compete for a place alongside Djené, Abdel Abqar, Zaid Romero and Juan Berrocal. The club thus bring in a young footballer with potential to face a season in which they will once again compete in Europe.
