Getafe continue to shape their squad for the 2026-27 season with the continuity of Zaid Romero. The Madrid club announced on Monday an agreement with Club Brugge for the permanent transfer of the Argentine defender, who becomes one of the club's long-term bets after his strong performances in the final months of last season.

Romero arrived at the Coliseum in the winter transfer window and quickly earned a place in José Bordalás's starting eleven. The centre-back played 15 official matches, all of them as a starter, and scored one goal, helping Getafe qualify for the Conference League.

Developed at Godoy Cruz and with experience at Villa Dálmine, LDU Quito, Estudiantes de La Plata and Club Brugge, the defender stood out during his loan spell for his defensive solidity, his dominance in the air and his quick adaptation to the team, qualities that convinced the club to complete his permanent signing.

Although Getafe did not disclose the financial details of the deal, various reports place the transfer fee at around five million euros. The 26-year-old defender is now tied to the azulón side until 30 June 2030.

With Zaid Romero's continuity, Bordalás secures an important piece at the heart of the defence ahead of a season in which Getafe will face the challenge of competing in both LaLiga and Europe. The Argentine therefore joins other moves already confirmed by the club, such as the arrivals of Martín Satriano, Sebastián Boselli and Mario Martín.
