Getafe hosted Luis García's Alavés at the Coliseum in matchday eight, with Bordalás's side arriving on 4 points after an inconsistent start to the season.

Mauro Arambarri put the hosts ahead in the 42nd minute, right before the break, with a goal that gave Getafe the lead. After the restart, Luis Milla extended the advantage from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, a goal that also marked his first in La Liga with the club.

Alavés, unable to respond, saw their starting eleven thin out: Carlos Martín went off at half-time; Sedlar and Protesoni — booked in the 45th — left in the 54th, and Abqar, booked earlier in the 31st, followed in the 55th; Toni Martínez was the last change, in the 68th. Mouriño, Manu Sánchez, Blanco — booked in the 70th —, Villalibre and Kike García, also booked, in the 81st, came off the bench.

For the hosts, Bordalás reshuffled his bench in the closing stages: Álex Sola, booked in the 67th, made way in the 70th; Uche and Bertuğ also came off before the end, while Arambarri, booked in the 78th, stayed on until the 89th. Juan Iglesias, Aberdin, Álvaro — who made his La Liga debut with the club and was booked in the 90th — and Mayoral came on.

Referee Díaz de Mera took charge of the match, which also saw goalkeeper Sivera (62') and Carlos Vicente (90') booked for Alavés. The win left Getafe on 7 points and 15th place in the table.
