The team arrived in the relegation zone, with the 5-2 defeat to Lugano and the 4-0 loss at San Mamés still fresh and with noise between the dugout and the club. Bordalás picked Soria, Carvajal, Djené, Boselli, Valou, Gudelj, Francho, Terrats, Andrés García, Satriano and Enes Ünal. On the other side, Luis García Plaza and Juan Iglesias were returning to their old ground.

Getafe started with intensity and had the first chance in the 5th minute, when a Boselli header went close to the post. The goal, however, went to the visitors. In the 19th minute Kike Salas headed in a corner taken by Félix Correia to make it 0-1. Sevilla, who lost Isaac Romero to injury in the 27th minute and brought on Manu Bueno, controlled the game until half-time and came close to a second through Stassin and Ejuke. In the last action of the first half, Soria dealt with a free kick from Suazo. Getafe went to the dressing room without a pulse, and with a crisis just around the corner.

The resurrection began at half-time, with Mangala and Davinchi coming on for Francho and Valou. Getafe raised the intensity and Sevilla dropped deeper. In the 61st minute Vlachodimos turned an Andrés García shot behind for a corner, on a counter-attack led by Satriano. The equaliser came in the 68th minute: Satriano won the right flank, drew Salas out of position and delivered a cross that Ünal finished almost from the ground.

Five minutes later came the trick, in the most disputed move of the match. Andrés García challenged Manu Bueno for the ball on the flank and the assistant raised his flag, but the referee, García Verdura, did not blow his whistle. Play went on while the Sevilla defence stopped, Ünal crossed and Satriano scored with a backheel. After reviewing the incident on the monitor at the VAR's prompting, the referee saw no offence and awarded the goal. Sevilla were left waiting for a whistle that never came, and Getafe had their 2-1. The protests ended with yellow cards for Agoumé, Castrín and Sangante.

Getafe defended the lead with a compact team and looked long for Satriano and Iván Azón, who had come on along with Kiko Femenía for Ünal and Terrats. In stoppage time, Manu Bueno was shown a straight red card for holding Satriano as he headed towards goal. With Sevilla a man down, Andrés García laid the ball back to Mangala, who fired past Vlachodimos first time to make it 3-1.

Getafe had not won in the league since 20 September, when they beat Málaga 1-0, and this is the first time in this league campaign that they have scored more than one goal in a match. They remain unbeaten at home in the league, with three wins and three draws in six games: at the Coliseum, for now, nobody can bury them.
