Getafe arrived at the RCDE Stadium on 35 points and under an obligation to pick up points away from home. They did it in the most unexpected passage of the match: first-half stoppage time.
In the 45+3, Domingos Duarte made it 0-1. Four minutes later, in the 45+7, Arambarri made it 0-2. Getafe went in at the break two goals up, built in a handful of minutes.
Espanyol reacted in the second half. In the 68th, Roberto, who had just come off the bench, pulled one back and left it at 1-2 with more than twenty minutes to play.
Getafe held on through craft and cards: Nyom, Zaid Romero, Djené, Mario Martín, Boselli, Kiko Femenía and Milla were all booked. Bordalás reinforced with Mario Martín and Boselli. Díaz de Mera refereed the match.
The win left the side on 38 points and two milestones in the dressing room: David Soria played his 300th Primera División match and Juan Iglesias reached 150, all of them with Getafe.
