Getafe opened their Copa del Rey campaign at the Municipal de Manises and began by wasting the easiest chances: Bertuğ missed a penalty in the 12th minute and Álvaro repeated the mistake in the 27th.

The accuracy came later. In the 32nd, Bertuğ made it 0-1 from open play, and in the 43rd Peter extended it to 0-2.

The Turkish forward closed the first half with the 0-3 in the 45th minute, completing a brace that more than made up for the missed penalty.

The second half was about management and minutes: on came Uche, Álex Sola, Djené and Aberdin. The last of these was booked.

Soto Grado refereed the match. Getafe come through the first round without alarms despite the erratic start from twelve yards.
