The match went wrong for Getafe straight from the start. With the game barely under way, Eric García threaded a pass between the lines for Gordon, who nutmegged his way past the Getafe defence and beat David Soria with a shot from outside the box. It was the English winger's first goal in a Barcelona shirt.

The goal forced Bordalás's side to sit deep. With a back five and the lines tightly packed, Getafe could only try to hold out against Barcelona's attacks as the hosts moved the ball around comfortably. Soria had to keep out a dangerous Gordon cross to the far post that Olmo had grazed, and Eric García also tried his luck from distance.

The second goal arrived on the half-hour. Zaid Romero lost the ball in his own area while trying to play out from the back, and Gabriel Jesus, starting in place of the injured Raphinha, shook off several defenders and drilled the ball across goal inside the near post, beyond Soria's reach. Before the break Koundé could have made it three, but he failed to control the ball when clean through on the goalkeeper.

The second half began without changes and at a slower pace. Barcelona only needed to control the game, and Getafe could find no way to get near Joan Garcia's goal, as the goalkeeper spent the match as little more than a spectator. Soria was decisive again to deny Olmo another effort, leaving the Spaniard without reward.

Hansi Flick turned to his bench with half an hour remaining, bringing on Pedri and Fermín López, and Barcelona found their spark again. Lamine Yamal, closely watched by the Getafe defence throughout, found the space in the second half to play a pass from the right to Koundé, who arrived unmarked and tucked the ball home to make it 3-0.

Gil Manzano blew the final whistle with no further change to the scoreline. Barcelona have now won eight out of eight league games and remain top of LaLiga, while Getafe now face their first match of the Conference League league phase: on Thursday they travel to Romania to take on Universitatea Craiova.
