The match turned on the only passage of play that broke a night of extreme parity. On 45 minutes, from a corner, Djené held Budimir as the Croatian striker peeled away towards the near post. The referee did not see the incident in real time, but VAR alerted him and the review left no room for doubt. From twelve yards, Budimir sent David Soria the wrong way and gave the hosts a half-time lead.

The penalty carried added significance for the Getafe goalkeeper: Soria had not conceded from any of the previous four spot-kicks he had faced, with three saves and one effort off target. This time he dived one way and the ball went the other.

Until then the game had been a contest of containment. Osasuna and Getafe cancelled each other out for the first half-hour without a single shot on target, with plenty of loose balls, well-drilled covering and no risks taken in possession. Terrats was the visitors' most persistent threat, first with a strike from midfield and then with a header that flew over.

That spell also broke up the game for the hosts for another reason: Herrando was injured in a challenge with Ünal and had to be carried off on a stretcher. Boyomo came on in his place in the 39th minute.

Getafe came out sharper after the break and found an equaliser on 53 minutes, when Ünal met a cut-back from Andrés García and finished at the far post. The Turkish forward celebrated, but technology flagged him offside and the goal was disallowed. It would have been his fourth in four matches since returning to the club.

From there the game opened up at times without ever losing its shape. Soria produced a fine save to deny Dubasin from close range after a long ball down Arguibide's flank. At the other end, Sergio Herrera cleared a Terrats effort off the line from inside the box; the rebound fell to Satriano, who blazed well over the bar.

The closing stages turned scrappy amid fouls and cards — Djené, Mojica, Ünal and Mangala were booked for the visitors — with Getafe pouring forward in search of an equaliser and Osasuna dropping into a low block, waiting to break. Barja and Dubasin threatened for the hosts, but the scoreline did not change again.

The result leaves Getafe on three points from three matches, one win and two defeats, while Osasuna have back-to-back wins and seven points out of nine. The azulones had arrived in Pamplona after securing their place in the UEFA Conference League league phase in Belgrade.
