Getafe hosted Girona with 35 points and in need of becoming strong at home. They left the Coliseum with three more and with a personal story to remember.
The goal came in the 34th minute and was scored by Yellu. For the academy graduate it was no ordinary goal: it was the first he had scored in La Liga.
With the 1-0, the match became exactly what Bordalas' team does best: defending a short lead. Yellu himself was substituted in the 68th, with the score already settled.
Michel worked the bench looking for the equaliser and brought on Solis, Jastin and Stuani in the final stretch, but Girona never found the way to goal.
Bordalas managed the closing stages with Domingos Duarte, Diego Rico, Carmona, Alena and Mata. Alderete was booked in the 11th minute, Milla in the 52nd, and Oscar Rodriguez and Carmona already in the 90th. Munuera Montero was the referee.
The win leaves Getafe with 38 points and in tenth place, level with Villarreal and with Las Palmas just a point behind.
