Getafe hosted Atlético Madrid at the Coliseum on matchday 36 of the 2023-24 LaLiga season, with survival already virtually secured on 43 points and 10th place in the table. Diego Simeone visited the Azulones' ground with his side still fighting for a place in Europe.

Antoine Griezmann scored all three goals of the match: he opened the scoring in the 27th minute, doubled the lead in the 42nd and completed his hat-trick in the 51st, effectively settling the outcome before the hour mark.

Bordalás reacted at half-time, with the score already 0-2, making three simultaneous changes: Latasa, Jordi Martín and Mata came on for Diego Rico, Ilaix Moriba and Aleñá. The response did not stop Griezmann from completing his hat-trick just six minutes into the second half.

Besides the three changes at the break, Getafe also brought on Yellu, who was booked in the 88th minute, and Risco. Diego Rico had been booked in the 14th minute before being substituted; Alderete (55') and Gastón Álvarez (90') were also cautioned. For Atlético, Witsel (17'), Giménez (77') and Hermoso (88') were booked. Forward Latasa, who came on from the bench, reached his 50th Primera División appearance.

Melero López took charge of the match. Despite the defeat, Getafe stayed on 43 points and held onto 10th place in the table.
