Barrenetxea put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute. The equaliser came in the 29th through Óscar Rodríguez, who made it 1-1, the score at half-time and one that did not change for the rest of the match.

The club records for the game noted Alderete's 50th La Liga appearance with Getafe, Tallal's competition debut, and Elustondo's 200th La Liga appearance, all with Real Sociedad. The draw left Getafe on 40 points, in tenth place, with Villarreal ninth (42) and Osasuna eleventh (39).
