Getafe took another step in their summer preparation with a narrow 1-0 win over Reading, although the result took a back seat to the physical problems suffered by the azulón side. The demanding training workload accumulated during the camp took its toll on José Bordalás's men, who had to make several substitutions as a precaution.

The coach opted to start with some of the new faces, such as Andrés García and Terrats, as well as young George Andrews, a recent signing for the reserve team. The team grew into the game, although they soon lost Abdel Abqar and Andrés García himself, both to muscle issues before the half-hour mark.

Reading took advantage of those moments of uncertainty to threaten the goal defended by Jiri Letáček. The goalkeeper made a good save from a Marriott cross-shot and then saw a cross travel across the entire six-yard box without finding a finisher.

After the break, Bordalás introduced youth player Ibu for Borja Mayoral, while the English side completely renewed their eleven. However, the physical problems continued for Getafe. Kiko Femenía had to leave the pitch due to another muscle issue and, shortly after, Djené also could not complete the match, allowing Christantus Uche to return.

Despite the difficulties, the Madrid side found their reward in the 72nd minute. Martín Satriano took advantage of an attacking move to unleash a cross-shot that beat the Reading goalkeeper and scored the only goal of the match.

The goal allowed Getafe to secure their first pre-season victory and reinforce the positive feelings of a team that continues to accumulate minutes and fitness work before facing their next friendly against Tenerife. The result left a positive note on the scoreboard, although Bordalás's main concern now lies with the recovery of the players who ended the match with discomfort.
