The situation worsened in the 54th minute, when Aleñá picked up his second yellow card and left the team with ten men for more than half an hour.
Even a man down, Getafe found the equaliser in the 77th minute through Ünal. Earlier, in the 51st, Mayoral had wasted a penalty that would have changed the match.
Rayo also missed one in the 87th, through De Tomás, and the scoreboard did not move again.
