Getafe learned the outcome of the Conference League play-off draw at midday, held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. Jose Bordalas's side will face the winner of the third qualifying round tie between Partizan Belgrade and Tobol, which will be decided over two legs on 6 and 13 August.

The first leg will be played at the Coliseum, currently undergoing work, where the Azulones will try to build a sufficient advantage to approach the return leg with confidence. It will be Getafe's first European home match of the campaign and the supporters, despite capacity restrictions caused by the stadium works, will respond as they always do.

On paper, the opponent represents one of the more favourable options in the pot for Getafe. Partizan Belgrade are a historic name in Serbian football, but their presence in the latter stages of European competitions has faded in recent years. Tobol, the Kazakh champions, have barely made an impact on the continental stage and would undoubtedly be the least prestigious opponent in the subgroup.

The two-legged tie will be decided on aggregate over 180 minutes. If the scores are level, there will be extra time and, if necessary, penalties. The away goals rule does not apply.

Getafe are seeking the fourth European appearance in the club's history and, in the process, to add coefficient points for LaLiga in the fight for the fifth Champions League place, the same one earned last season thanks to Rayo Vallecano's run in this competition.

The play-off will be played on Thursday 20 August (first leg) and Thursday 27 August (second leg), with kick-off times still to be confirmed by UEFA. The final opponent will not be known until 13 August, when the third qualifying round concludes.
