Getafe kicked off their Copa del Rey campaign at the Coliseum, in the first leg of the last-32 round and with almost the entire squad making their debut in the competition with the club.

The match did not open up until the second half: Albín scored in the 61st minute, his first goal in the Copa del Rey, and Gavilán added the second in the 70th.

Míchel brought on Rafa for Cortés in the 34th minute, Gavilán for Manu del Moral in the 61st and Adrián for Soldado in the 75th.

Cata Díaz was booked in the 59th minute, Soldado in the 36th and Parejo in the 86th for Getafe; for Espanyol, Roncaglia in the 36th and Pillud in the 44th.

Clos Gómez was the referee. Getafe took the first leg 2-0. Codina, Parejo and Boateng played their first Copa del Rey match, and Mané, Soldado and Pedro León their first with Getafe.
