Getafe arrived at the fifteenth matchday ninth with 20 points, after thrashing Mallorca at the Coliseum the previous week.

The match was decided in the 88th minute. Albín, who had come on twenty minutes earlier, scored the 1-0 and in that same minute saw a second yellow: Getafe finished with nine men the match they had just won.

Míchel had already used his three changes: Rafa came on for Gavilán at the break, Albín for Manu del Moral in the 68th and Casquero for Parejo in the 82nd. For Villarreal, Garrido brought on Marco Ruben for Cani in the 53rd, Catalá for Marchena in the 70th and Jefferson Montero for Cazorla in the 77th.

Cata Díaz's sending-off in the 41st left Getafe with ten men for almost half the match, and Albín's second yellow left them with nine at the end. Mané, Víctor Sánchez and Miku were booked for Getafe, and Marchena and Bruno Soriano for Villarreal.

Paradas Romero was the referee. Getafe climbed to seventh place with 23 points, the same as sixth-placed Atlético Madrid and one more than Athletic Club.
