Getafe opened matchday 20 on a Friday, sitting sixth with 28 points, hosting an Alavés side that arrived just ahead in the table.

Mata opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 32nd. Jorge Molina scored right after the break, in the 46th, and repeated the feat in the 56th for 3-0. Mata completed the scoring in the 87th.

Bordalás brought on Duro, Samu Saiz and Ángel; Jorge Molina went off in the 74th, Antunes in the 81st and Portillo in the 85th.

Getafe did not see a single card. Alavés did: Ximo in the 39th, Pina in the 61st, Duarte in the 77th and Wakaso in the 78th.

Munuera Montero was the referee. It was Mata's first brace in LaLiga and Jorge Molina's first as a Getafe player, and Portillo reached 50 LaLiga appearances for the club. The team remain sixth with 31 points.
