Getafe faced a decisive final matchday in 17th place on 36 points, needing a result at the Benito Villamarín to stay up.

Pezzella put Betis ahead in the 56th and Rubén Castro extended the lead from the penalty spot in the 74th. Medrán pulled one back in the 84th, but the 2-1 left Getafe on 36 points, two behind Rayo.

Esnáider brought on Álvaro Vázquez, Yoda and Emi Buendía; Juan Rodríguez went off in the 55th, Moi Gómez in the 63rd and Pereira in the 67th.

Emi Buendía was sent off in the 75th, shortly after coming on. Getafe also saw eight yellow cards: Juan Rodríguez, Vergini, Cala, Pereira, Medrán, Damián Suárez, Šćepović and Yoda.
