Getafe hosted Girona at the Coliseum on matchday thirteen, a Sunday, arriving with 10 points and 16th place.
The only goal of the match came from Herrera in the 42nd minute, having been booked shortly before, in the 40th; the goal proved decisive and secured the three points for Míchel's side.
The match also carried historical significance: it was Getafe's 300th defeat in La Liga and, for the visitors, the competition debut of Ferran, who came on from Girona's bench.
Bordalás reshuffled his bench, with Nyom and Carles Pérez both coming off in the 64th minute, along with Yellu (46') and Uche (85'); Álex Sola — later booked in the 87th —, Bertuğ — booked moments after coming on, in the 90th —, Aleñá and Álvaro all came on. Diego Rico, for his part, was booked in the 38th.
For Girona, besides Herrera, Van de Beek (34') and Romeu (39') were also booked. Herrera and Van de Beek left the pitch in the 73rd minute, as did Miovski, while Bryan Gil went off in the 89th. Selvi, Ferran, Stuani and Kim all came on.
Referee Martínez Munuera took charge of the match. The defeat left Getafe on 10 points and dropped them to 18th place, between Espanyol (11 points) and Valladolid (9).
