Getafe opened the 1996-97 season at Manchego's ground, in the first matchday of Group 1 of Segunda B.

Luengo scored in the 32nd minute and Bellido equalised in the 36th.

Duque changed Luengo for Arranz at half-time, brought on Higuera for Camacho in the 62nd and Dani for Mel in the 81st.

Barba saw a second booking in the 33rd minute and Getafe played with ten men from then on. Camacho, Acosta, Luengo and Arranz were also booked.

Vizuete Fernández refereed. Getafe started the season tenth with 1 point.
