Getafe were hosting Bayern in the second leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final with the tie at 1-1 from Munich: ninety minutes to reach the semi-finals.

De la Red was sent off in the 6th minute and Getafe played the rest with ten men. Even so, Contra scored in the 44th. Ribéry equalised in the 89th, and in stoppage time Casquero made it 2-1 in the 91st and Braulio 3-1 in the 93rd. In extra time, Toni scored in the 115th and 120th.

Laudrup shuffled his team early: Belenguer came on for Uche in the 21st, Braulio for Manu del Moral in the 62nd and Mario Cotelo for Contra in the 66th.

Besides the red card to De la Red in the 6th, Belenguer was booked in the 121st. For Bayern, Lell in the 22nd, Lahm in the 37th, Toni in the 104th and Podolski in the 116th.

Massimo Busacca took charge. The aggregate ended 4-4 and Bayern reached the semi-finals on away goals scored at the Coliseum. It was Getafe's last European match that season.
