Getafe welcomed Girona with 22 points and produced the perfect start: Ünal scored in the 2nd minute and repeated from the penalty spot in the 14th.

Mayoral made it 3-0 in the 43rd and the break arrived with the match apparently decided.

The second half was a different story. Castellanos pulled one back in the 54th and Miguel Gutiérrez made it 3-2 in the 80th — his first goal in La Liga — forcing Getafe to suffer through the final ten minutes.

Getafe held on. Quique closed ranks with Juan Iglesias, Aleñá, Seoane, Milla and Mata. Algobia, Djené, Domingos Duarte, Maksimović and Milla were booked.
