Getafe opened the 2005-06 season at Montjuïc, with Bernd Schuster in charge.

The game was not unlocked until the second half: Gavilán scored in the 55th minute and Riki added a second five minutes later.

Schuster brought on Paredes for Gavilán in the 71st, Paunović for Riki in the 77th and Cubillo for Güiza in the 87th.

Matellán, Pernía and Diego Rivas saw yellow for Getafe, and Lopo and Coro for Espanyol.
