Getafe made their UEFA Cup group-stage debut at White Hart Lane.

Defoe put Tottenham ahead in the 19th and Granero equalised two minutes later. Braulio scored the second in the 70th, his first goal in the competition.

The first change was in goal: Abbondanzieri came on for Ustari at half-time. Then Sousa replaced Casquero in the 62nd and Mario Cotelo replaced Granero in the 76th.

Albín in the 52nd and goalkeeper Abbondanzieri in the 87th were booked for Getafe, and Defoe and Kaboul for Tottenham.

Knut Kircher was the referee. Getafe began the group with three points and a win in London.
