The match opened up in the second half: Soldado scored in the 60th minute and Parejo converted a penalty in the 71st, his first goal in LaLiga.

Míchel replaced Celestini and Manu del Moral in the 59th minute, with Albín and Gavilán, and brought on Casquero for Parejo in the 74th.

Athletic finished with nine men: Gurpegui picked up a second booking in the 42nd and Ustaritz was sent off in the 87th. Parejo and Boateng were booked for Getafe, and Castillo and Orbaiz for Athletic.

Undiano Mallenco was the referee. Getafe rose to eighth place with 12 points.
