Williams scored in the 13th minute and Jorge Molina equalised from the penalty spot in the 21st. Raúl García put Athletic ahead again, also from the spot, in the 48th, and Ángel made it 2-2 in the 74th.

In between, in the 51st minute, Jorge Molina missed a third penalty that would have levelled the score earlier.

Bordalás brought on Ángel, Molinero and Pacheco; Damián Suárez went off at half-time, Shibasaki in the 55th minute and Amath in the 62nd. Amath, Molinero, Jorge Molina, Djené and Arambarri were booked.
