Getafe CF and Juan Berrocal have reached an agreement to terminate the player's contract, and he is no longer part of the squad. The 27-year-old centre-back had joined the Coliseum in the summer of 2024 and leaves after playing 21 matches in the league and the Copa del Rey, according to figures released by the club.

Now a free agent, the defender joined Málaga CF on Tuesday, with the Andalusian club confirming the signing on the last day of the window. Berrocal passed a medical and signed at La Rosaleda a deal covering the current 2026/27 season. He arrives on a free transfer, so the move has brought Getafe no transfer fee.

The departure closes a spell of two summers at Getafe, with only one season actually spent in the squad: in the 2024/25 campaign he made 19 appearances in the top flight under José Bordalás, and last season he was on loan at Atlanta United in Major League Soccer. He returned to Spain this summer and leaves before the window closes.

A product of the Sevilla academy, where he made his first-team debut at 18 after establishing himself in the reserve side, Berrocal built his career in the second division with Mirandés and Sporting de Gijón, both on loan, before joining Eibar in 2022. He has 163 appearances in the second tier across five seasons and was a Spain under-19 international.

With this departure, Getafe reduce their options at centre-back on the same day they signed forward Iván Azón on loan from Como 1907.
