Getafe will begin the 2026/27 season this Saturday, 15 August, at Mendizorroza, where they face Deportivo Alavés from 19:30 on the opening matchday of LaLiga EA Sports. The match will be shown on television by DAZN LaLiga.

José Bordalás's side arrive at the league opener after a pre-season of six friendlies with a record of two wins, two draws and two defeats, closed out with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham. Last season the azulones finished seventh in the table.

Bordalás starts the campaign without two long-term absentees. Christantus Uche will miss the entire season after rupturing the cruciate ligament and the meniscus in a pre-season friendly, while Juanmi Jiménez is still recovering from a knee injury and is not expected back until November.

The manager can, however, count on a reshaped squad. In recent days the club have completed the arrivals of Orel Mangala and Johan Mojica and the return of Enes Ünal, adding to earlier signings such as Ramón Terrats, Mario Martín and Zaid Romero.

Standing in their way are an Alavés side managed by Quique Sánchez Flores who finished 14th last season, just one point above relegation, and who ended their pre-season with two wins and two draws. The hosts are waiting on the fitness of Lucas Boyé, who has been carrying a muscle problem since their last friendly and has trained away from the group.

"I think we have had a good pre-season and now we have to show it in matches," said Sánchez Flores, who is counting on the backing of the home crowd: "We will try to give them the first bit of joy." On the opposition, the manager warned that "Getafe are a difficult side" and that "there will be duels and intensity."

The head-to-head record is finely balanced: across the 24 meetings between the two clubs in all competitions there are seven wins apiece and ten draws. The azulón club also recalled that Getafe took all three points on their two most recent visits to Mendizorroza.

Tickets for the match are already on sale and, as Getafe announced, can only be bought online.

Getafe's schedule continues next week with the Conference League play-off round against Partizan Belgrade.
