Enes Ünal is set to become a Getafe player again. The 29-year-old Turkish striker has agreed his return to the Azulones and travels to Madrid on Wednesday to undergo a medical and sign the contract that will formalise his second spell at the Coliseum. The move has not yet been confirmed officially by Getafe, who have made no announcement.

The agreement reached with Bournemouth is a permanent transfer rather than a loan: Ünal returns outright after two and a half seasons in England. The financial terms of the deal have not been made public.

The player's own wishes proved decisive in unlocking the negotiations. Ünal had made clear his preference for a return to Spain and to the club where he produced the best football of his career, and José Bordalás's interest in bringing him back tipped the deal Getafe's way.

The return comes at a moment of need up front. The injury to Christantus Uche, who will miss the entire season, has left the manager without one of his key attacking options just days before the league opener. Ünal would join Borja Mayoral and Martín Satriano in attack.

The Turkey international was one of the club's outstanding recent goalscorers. Between 2020 and 2024 he made 109 competitive appearances for Getafe and scored 36 goals, including back-to-back campaigns of 15 and 16 goals in LaLiga that placed him among the club's leading scorers in the top flight.

He left in January 2024 for the Premier League, initially on loan and later on a permanent basis. Before that, a serious knee injury had denied him a move to Benfica, and in early 2025 a further injury kept him out for several months. He carried out part of that recovery in Getafe, a club he has continued to visit since.

If the formalities are completed without setbacks, the striker would be available to Bordalás for the start of LaLiga, which Getafe begin this weekend.
